REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

WHAT DIVISION IS MY CHILD IN?

The Beverly Hills Basketball League is made up of five divisions. The division that your child will play in is determined by the school grade he or she will be entering during the school year prior to the start of our season. Our divisions are broken down as follows:

  • Booster Division – for players entering either kindergarten or first grade.
  • Rookie Division – for players entering either second or third grade.
  • Minor Division – for players entering either fourth or fifth grade.
  • Major Division – for players entering either sixth or seventh grade.
  • Senior Division – for players entering either eighth or ninth grade.
  • Super Senior Division – for players entering tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade.

*Please note that the major and senior girls divisions might have some age crossover.

WILL THE BOYS AND GIRLS PLAY WITH OR AGAINST EACH OTHER?

In the Booster division, the boys and girls will play with each other on the same teams and will also play against each other. In the Rookie, Minor, Major, Senior and Super Senior divisions, the boys and girls will play on separate teams and the games will only be between same gender teams.

All teams in the Minor, Major, Senior and Super Senior divisions, will each participate in their own playoff series’ during the final two weeks of our season.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO ATTEND RATING DAY?

Each player will participate in basketball drills or play in a game. Please dress appropriately, including the proper footwear for the basketball court.

The exact time schedule for the rating of your child will be emailed to you and posted on our website as that date draws near.

CAN I MAKE A REQUEST FOR MY CHILD TO PLAY WITH HIS/HER FRIENDS?

In the Booster and Rookie divisions, the BHBL entertains and accepts player’s requests as to whom they would like to play with during the season. It is the intention of the BHBL to try to accommodate as many requests as possible in these two divisions. However, it is important to understand that we cannot guarantee that every request will be granted.

To the extent feasible, the BHBL will attempt to assemble an even number of teams in each grade level and in the Rookie division, an even number of boys and girls teams. By doing this, we can have the same grade and same gender teams play against each other for a more balanced approach during our season.

In the Minor, Major, Senior and Super Senior Divisions, we do not accept player’s requests. The only exception is for brothers and sisters and for children living in the same household where age and gender would place them in the same division.

Balancing the talent levels on each team is the primary goal in assembling the teams in these four divisions.
